Hello, Korea! The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) has announced the opening of Korea House at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games.
Excitingly, Korea joins India as one of the few officially-announced Hospitality Houses from the Asian continent, as of the publishing of this article.
What We Know: Location
Korea House will be located at Maison de la Chimie, an art-deco style international conference centre, in the heart of Paris.
Called "the House of Chemistry" in English, this venue has had a storied history in Paris as the backdrop for many important scientific, cultural and political meetings and moments. The venue offers a variety of conference rooms, amphitheatres and a private garden, and it is believed that Korea House will occupy all three levels of the venue.
What We Know: It's Public and Ticketed
According to the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, Korea House will be open to the public at Paris 2024 and visitors will require tickets. It has been confirmed by the House Party Blog that entry will be free.
As of now, it's believed that Korea House will be open from July 25 to August 11, 2024, from 10:00am to 9:00pm daily.
We expect the Korea House website to go live in early July, and additional details will be available then.
What We Know: The Program is K-Themed
At Paris 2024, the theme for Korea House is "Play the K". Organizers have shared that the programmed will be filled with "K-Sports, K-Food, K-Pop, K-Art and K-Tours of Korea."
As noted in a post by K-Culture Instagram account @eyokpr:
"While previous Korea Houses focused primarily on sports, providing athlete lounges and hosting medalist press conferences, this year’s Korea House in Paris will broaden its scope to include culture, art, and tourism."
What We Know: It's in the "Central Cluster"
Korea House will be located in the heart of Paris, within minutes of some of the most iconic Paris 2024 venues. Additionally, it's located in the "Central Cluster" of Hospitality Houses.
Nearby, visitors will find the following national Hospitality Houses: Lotto Belgium House, Denmark Pavilion, Team Ireland House, New Zealand House, Pride House, Maison Suisse and Team USA House.
What We Know: Nearby Sport Events
The closest Paris 2024 sport events to Korea House will be:
BMX Freestyle, Skateboarding, Breaking, 3x3 Basketball at Place de la Concorde
Fencing and Taekwondo at Grand Palais
Archery, Athletics and Road Cycling at Invalides
All of these venues are within a 15 minute walk of Korea House.
