On May 13, 1000 days before the opening of Milano Cortina 2026, the Comitato Olimpico Nazionale Italiano (CONI) announced their plans for an Italian hospitality house at Paris 2024, called Casa Italia.
What We Know: Location
Casa Italia will be located at Pré Catelan, a beautiful Napoleon III-style pavilion in Bois de Boulogne, the second-largest park in Paris, in the 16th arrondissement. In 1852, this land was turned over to the city of Paris by the Emperor Napoleon III and was transformed into Bois de Boulogne.
Pré Catelan is an opulent venue, which also houses a restaurant of the same name. In 2007, it received 3 stars in the Michelin Guide France.
What We Know: It's intended for Athletes and VIPs
For now, we understand that Casa Italia will play host to Italian athletes and guests of the CONI delegation. It has not yet been confirmed if Casa Italia will be open to the public.
Casa Italia will also play a key role in showcasing Italy's 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milan Cortina.
What We Know: A Focus on Sustainability
Indeed, there is waste involved with the pop-up nature of national hospitality houses. CONI appears to be tacking the issue head-on, as noted in their press release:
Casa Italia, which had already begun to address the issue of sustainability when it was set up in Tokyo in 2020, will now be designed with the intention of recovering and recycling all the materials involved.
What We Know: Nearby Sport Events
The closest Paris 2024 sport events to Casa Italia will be:
Tennis and Boxing at Rolland-Garros Stadium
Football at Parc des Princes
All of these venues are within 30 minutes of Casa Italia on public transit.
