The countdown is on! 365 days until the Opening Ceremonies of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games. To celebrate, here's a roundup of the latest news about Hospitality Houses at the next edition of the Winter Games.
Belgium: Lotto Belgium House
Based on the current Lotto Belgium House website, it appears the Belgians won't be opening a Hospitality House at Milano-Cortina 2026.
Sadly, the site reads: "See you in 2028 in LA!" We'll continue to watch this space for further updates.
Netherlands: TEAMNL HOuse
Almost immediately after the closure of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the NOC*NSF updated the TeamNL House website with a forward-looking message about Milano-Cortina 2026. As of today, the site reads:
"C'est fini: The most beautiful party. A beautiful sixth place and an amazing fourth place in the medal tables and we celebrated that very well together with you in the TeamNL House. We could not have wished for a more beautiful Home for Oranje in Paris! Ciao, see you in Milan!"
Organizers of TeamNL House haven't yet provided additional details about their plans for TeamNL House, but we expect further updates to come soon.
Switzerland: House of Switzerland
On the official House of Switzerland website, the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that the Swiss will be opening in two locations at Milano-Cortina 2026: in the Milano Cluster and the Cortina Cluster. As noted on the website, visitors can expect:
- A focus on the Alps as a shared space between Switzerland and Italy - Opportunities to network with leaders in politics, business and culture - A celebration of Swiss athletic achievements in a welcoming atmosphere
The site also notes that House of Switzerland will be an "unforgettable part of the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics experience." In addition to the two venues for the Olympic Games, we expect House of Switzerland to be back in some capacity for the Paralympic Games in March.
USA: Team USA House
Similar as Paris 2024, it's expected that Team USA House will be a public, ticketed Hospitality House co-hosted by On Location, the official hospitality provider for Milano-Cortina 2026.
In the October 2024 USOPC Leadership Briefing, the CEO of the USOPC, Sarah Hirschland, spoke about the geographical strategy for hosting guests from the United States:
"The footprint will look different around the Milano-Cortina games than the way we approached Paris. Because the landscape is different. It is a bit more fragmented in its geography and that will require us operationally to take a different approach both to supporting Team USA athletes, but also to how we think about hosting guests from the United States. So we will do that in a bit of a fragmented way as the geography sort of requires it."
From this, we gather that Team USA may have one more than Hospitality House location at Milano-Cortina 2026, taking a similar approach to Switzerland. More to come.
